Two days ago, I quit my job as a software engineer. 😫
The place wasn't new for me, I worked there 2 years ago, and when the contract ended, I went to live in Thailand. The pandemic forced me to go back to Barcelona, and by some fortuitous circumstances, I talked with my old boss and he recommended me to the new contractor. So they offered me a position to work there.
The place was the same, but the company wasn't. I knew the customer well and I was happy to work with them again.
My initial plan was to work in Barcelona for something between six months and a year. And after the pandemic was over, I would travel back to Thailand, since it has been a year since I left Asia.
Things in the company didn't go as expected, and by some disagreements, I decided that the new contractor wasn't suited for me. So I decided that it was better to walk in another direction.
These things happen, but to be honest, I didn't expect to stay there that short.
Looking at things positively, I'm happy that I was able to launch an application in less than one month and that I could open source it. Moreover, I've met new interesting people and learned new things along the way.
Sometimes you need to take one step backward to take two steps forwards.
And... what now? I hope to get vaccinated as soon as possible and to be able to travel to Thailand. Meanwhile, I'll ship some new things that I've in mind, and I'll start to write again more frequently about the things I learn.
Cheers!
