Vice Presidency of Digital and Territorial Policies in Catalonia

I have some news. I started to work as a telecom engineer a couple of weeks ago for the Vice Presidency of Digital and Territorial Policies in Catalonia. It's a project whose aim is to deploy optical fibre where private companies aren't interested in doing it and helping to create a more resilient digital economy by connecting 947 municipalities.

It's a short contract (less than one year at min and two years at max if the contract is extended). After the fibre is deployed, my role here will most probably be deprecated. The position is semi-presential (2 days of office per week) and the team is pretty nice. I'm surrounded by brilliant minds, and I'm happy to learn from all of them.

Before starting the contract, I was expecting to be able to do the job in the morning and continue to work in software engineering in the afternoon. Unfortunately, my GitHub profile has collected a few grey boxes during the last weeks. Well, I guess I won't be able to ship new products because the telecom engineer role is consuming more time than I expected.

A couple of weeks ago, I launched remount it, and I reckon that it will be the last product I ship in 2022. I'll use my free time and remaining energy to maintain the currently active projects and to lift weights.

Hi, I'm Erik, an engineer from Barcelona. If you like the post or have any comments, say hi.
